GoWalker

Privacy policy

Last changed 21 October 2026.

This policy says what GoWalker keeps about you, why it keeps it, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. GoWalker is run by the people who run GoWalker. It covers this website and the GoWalker Android app, which shows the same site.

What GoWalker keeps

Your account. When you create an account, GoWalker keeps your username, your password in a scrambled form that can't be turned back into the password, the type of account, and when it was made. It also keeps your email address and whether you have confirmed it.

Your Google accounts. When you connect a Google account, GoWalker keeps the sign-in Google gives it so it can upload for you, the Google account's address and id, and the ids of the data sources it makes there. It asks Google only for what it needs to write fitness data such as activity and distance, and to read back what it wrote.

Your sessions. The settings of each session, what each run uploaded, about a day of distance history, and a log of what happened, so the site can show you how your sessions are doing and find out what went wrong when something does.

Recorded walks. When you upload a recorded walk, the file itself isn't kept. Only the speeds worked out from it, its name and a short summary are kept.

Linked accounts. If you link a Discord account, its id is kept, so GoWalker can send you notices there and answer your commands. If you link Patreon, GoWalker keeps the sign-in Patreon gives it and whether you are pledging, to check your access.

Technical records. Like most websites, the server records the address each request comes from, when it came and what it asked for. These records are used to keep the site running, find faults and stop abuse. An address that keeps abusing the site may be blocked.

Cookies. GoWalker uses one cookie to keep you signed in and protect its forms, and one to remember whether you chose the desktop or the mobile version. Your browser also remembers a few display choices on your own device. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no analytics.

How it is used

Only to run GoWalker for you. That means signing you in, uploading what your sessions make, showing you the results, sending the notices you asked for, and keeping the site and its users safe. GoWalker doesn't sell your data, doesn't show ads, and doesn't use your data for anything else.

Who else sees it

Google receives the fitness data your sessions upload, in the Google account you connected, where Google's own privacy policy covers it.

Email goes out through an email delivery service, which sees the address it sends to and the message. Discord delivers the direct messages you switch on, and Patreon is asked whether you are pledging.

The server is kept by a hosting provider. The people who run GoWalker can see accounts, sessions and logs, to run the site and help when something goes wrong.

Nothing is shared with anybody else, unless the law requires it.

How long it is kept

Your account and sessions are kept while your account exists. Distance history keeps about the last day. Logs and technical records are kept only as long as they are useful for running the site. When an account is deleted, its sessions and sign-ins are deleted with it.

Data already uploaded to Google stays in your Google account until you delete it there. GoWalker can't delete it for you once it has been disconnected.

Your choices

On the site you can change your email address and password, turn notices off, disconnect a Google account, unlink Discord and Patreon, and delete sessions. Disconnecting a Google account stops every upload to it. You can also remove GoWalker's access from the security settings of your Google account.

To see what GoWalker keeps about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to delete your account, contact the admins of GoWalker. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your data too, and you can ask about those the same way.

Keeping it safe

Sign-ins and passwords stay on the server, and the site is only served over an encrypted connection. No system is perfectly safe, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.

Children

GoWalker isn't meant for children under 13, or under the age your country sets for agreeing to this yourself. Please don't create an account if you are younger than that.

Not associated

GoWalker is an independent project. It isn't associated with, endorsed by or sponsored by knifeantic, scoperly, Google, or the makers of pkego or pkimini. Their names are used only to say what GoWalker works with, and belong to their owners.

Changes and contact

This policy may change as GoWalker does. The date at the top says when it last changed. Using GoWalker after a change means you accept the new version.
